Shia LaBeouf arrested for public intoxication outside of a Texas bar

Shia LaBeouf has managed to stir up some trouble, again. The actor was arrested for public intoxication Friday outside of a bar in Austin, Texas, according to the Austin Police Department.

Police said in a statement that the Transformers star was arrested for public intoxication around 7:30 p.m., but “due to pending adjudication, no further details will be released at this time.” The statement did include a mugshot of LaBeouf sporting scruffy facial hair and wearing a blue T-shirt, according to E! News.

According to Vanity Fair, the arrest came after LaBeouf and his friend were not allowed inside of a bar. Though the Austin Police Department did not release any further details, a TMZ report revealed that LaBeouf was running down the street and jaywalking in front of police.

The report stated that after he was denied entry into the bar, “Shia began swearing up a storm and tried forcing himself into the bar but was blocked.” E! reported that the arrest quickly hit Twitter as videos and photos of the 29-year-old surfaced.

LaBeouf has struggled with alcohol problems for a long time, Time reports. Last year, he agreed to seek treatment for alcohol abuse after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct for a meltdown on Broadway in New York City. He yelled at actors during a performance of Cabaret, refused to leave the theater and tried to spit on a police officer.

LaBeouf’s case was to be dismissed and sealed if he showed good behavior for six months as part of his plea deal in March. This means that Friday night’s event was outside of the six-month window.

The actor rose to fame as a child playing the role of Louis Stevens in Even Stevens. More recently, he appeared as “Bible” Swan in Fury, Ben Shepard in The Company You Keep and of course as Sam Witwicky in the Transformers franchise. He also starred in a controversial music video for Sia’s Elastic Heart.

He will soon appear on screens as Jake in the drama American Honey. The film follows a teenage girl (Sasha Lane) who joins a traveling magazine sales crew and gets caught up in hard partying and young love.
