Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce Gets A Premiere Date For Season 2

Bravo’s original scripted series Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce has a premiere date for it’s second season. Based on the Girlfriends’ Guide book series by Vicki Iovine, the series follows a self-help author named Abby McCarthy (Lisa Edelstein; House, The West Wing) and her relationship with her friends as she goes through a divorce. The second season will premiere at 10pm, Tuesday, December 1 on Bravo and will kick off a currently unknown number of episodes. According to a press release from Bravo Media, “this season, as a new chapter in Abby’s professional life seems promising, her personal life remains chaotic and all-consuming as her adventures in dating become even more unpredictable.”

“When she becomes ‘the face of divorce’ for chic lifestyle website SheShe, Abby is once again forced to live a lie hiding her complicated relationship with estranged husband Jake …  But as Abby finds success preaching the pros of divorce to her readers and portraying a fabulous single life on social media, she is torn over whether her marriage is worth saving or if she should chart her own course.  Throughout Abby’s ups and downs, the one constant in life remains her incredible girlfriends. While Delia … grapples with following the rigid traditions of getting married, Phoebe … tries to leave her demons in the past as she looks to find her true self and Jo … deals with her ex-husband and his new wife encroaching on her new LA life.”

Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce drew respectable ratings over it’s thirteen episode first season run and a generally warm reception from critics who praised the performance of Edelstein and the quality of the writing. The series, created by Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, UnREAL), also stars Beau Garrett (Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour), Necar Zadegan (Emily Owens M.D., 24), Paul Adelstein (Prison Break, Private Practice) and Alanna Ubach (Legally Blonde, Meet the Fockers). The second season will also feature guest appearances from Retta (Parks and Recreation, Premium Blend), Primetime Emmy Award nominee Carrie Fisher (Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, The Blues Brothers), Megan Hilty (Smash, Sean Saves the World), Mark Valley (Boston Legal, Fringe), Academy Award nominee Lesley Ann Warren (Victor Victoria, Mission: Impossible), Golden Globe Award winner Barry Bostwick (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Spin City) and Maury Sterling (Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Smokin’ Aces 2: Assassin’s Ball).
