Maggie Kirkpatrick, star of the Australian Soap Opera Prisoner has recently been charged with alleged child sex offences. Kirkpatrick was the lesbian star of the Australian Soap Opera in the 1980s which marked her big break in acting after dropping out of school at the age of fifteen to pursue acting. The star was brought up by a single mother alongside her brother after her father was tragically killed in Africa when she was only 6 months old. After going through school and finding it did not suit her interests she dropped out and tried out many different jobs before she decided on acting and it turns out it was the right choice. Not only did the young star find a spot on Prisoner, but as well on Hey Dad!, Blue Heeler, and Home and Away and many others. The actress has recently scored a role in the Musical production of Wicked as Madame Morrible.
Now, at the age of 74, she is being accused of two different acts of child sexual abuse, one of which supposedly involved a 13 year old girl in the 1980s, this however does not seem to have any connection to the show. It does not help her case that one of her past co-stars, Robert Hughes, who stared on Hey Dad!, has recently been put behind bars for 10 years 9 months for similar accusations. Kirkpatrick has denied all allegations against her and will appear in court on August 19th to fight her case.
