‘Total War: Warhammer’ Release Date Announced

Sega has announced the release date of its upcoming Total War and Warhammer 40k mash up game. Total War: Warhammer will launch exclusively on PC on April 28, 2016. The game, developed by The Creative Assembly, combines the world of Warhammer 40k with the strategy gameplay of the Total War series.

Sega describes the game as set in the Old World, which “echoes to the clamour of ceaseless battle. The only constant is WAR!”

“A fantasy strategy game of legendary proportions, Total War: Warhammer combines an addictive turn-based campaign of epic empire-building with explosive, colossal, real-time battles, all set in the vivid and incredible world of Warhammer Fantasy Battles.”

“Command four wholly different races: the Empire, the Dwarfs, the Vampire Counts and the Greenskins, each with their own unique characters, battlefield units and play style.”

“Lead your forces to war as one of eight Legendary Lords from the Warhammer Fantasy Battles World, arming them with fabled weapons, armour and deadly battle magic; hard-won in individual quest chains.”

“For the first time in a Total War game, harness storms of magical power to aid you in battle and take to the skies with flying creatures, from ferocious dragons and wyverns to gigantic griffons.”

“Hundreds of hours of gameplay await you at the dawn of a new era. Total War: Warhammer brings to life a world of legendary heroes, towering monsters, flying creatures, storms of magical power and regiments of nightmarish warriors.”

In addition to the standard edition of the game, you’ll also be able to purchase the High King Edition which, in addition to the game itself, will also include:

Grudge Ring: This quality metal ring, with a rotating inner band is perfect to spin whilst brooding over grudges and plotting revenge. Six numbered bevels on the inner hoop allow the ring to double as a fully functioning die.”

“Slayer’s Whetstone Pendant: Made of genuine, functional whetstone and inscribed with the talismanic Master Rune of Spite, this hefty trinket would be treasured and jealously guarded by any self-respecting Slayer, who aims to keep a keen edge on their blades.”

“Dwarfen Drinking Horn & Stand: Toast your victories with this beautifully decorated drinking horn; wrought with icons and sigils in the Dwarfen craftsman style. Suitable for both display and practical use, it can hold a full pint and comes complete with its own unique metal display stand. Please note, liquid cannot be ‘sipped’ from this drinking horn, it may only be ‘quaffed’.”

“Canvas Map: Plan your campaigns of conquest as any High King should with this gorgeously illustrated canvas map of the game world.”

“Integrated Artbook: Integrated into the High King Edition’s impressive packaging is a large art book featuring exclusive concepts.”

“Metal Case: Protect your game disks from the perilous dangers of the Old World with this exclusive metal case.”

“Insider Guide: A printed strategy guide for Total War: Warhammer; this book will help get you started with the game and offers invaluable tactical advice to help you dominate the battlefields of the Old World.”

“Chaos Warriors Race Pack: The Chaos Warriors Race Pack offers a new playable race with a full roster of bloodthirsty units, terrifying mounts and monstrous creatures. Lead the corrupted Chaos hordes as one of three new playable Legendary Lords and embrace the Ruinous Powers as you embark on brand new quest chains, unlocking powerful items and gaining the favour of the dark Chaos Gods.”

The Chaos Warriors Race Pack will also be available to everyone who pre-orders the standard definition of the game before its release, and the game will be supported with post launch downloadable content, some free and some paid. Personally, I think the title is a huge missed opportunity. They should have just called it Total Warhammer.

Hi, u got some stuff wrong, mainly one but its huge, warhammer total war mixes the warhammer universe, with total war not warhammer 40K, u can notice it in the lack of space marines and eldar

Looks great – the franchise (Warhammer) could do with a really good epic-style RTS, lets hope it plays well. But I play Warhammer 40k Series (Relic/Sega) and Sega’s customer service has been despicable, there is a main bug on the server that prevents everyone from seeing all the games on top of the 1 in 3 games crash 1 in 3 games don’t load at all and 1 in 3 games someone gets bugged out (so essentially you can easily end up waiting 20 mins+ on a single game), and it has been like this for months and Sega don’t do a thing about it. So beware when Sega are on board, that’s my only fear.

Not holding my breath with Sega or Creative Assembly. EVERY Total War game ever released has required 6 months of patching before it is in a fit state to play, and I’ve been burned too many times by the whole “pre-order unique DLC” rubbish, so I’m going to bide my time before this gets purchased.
    Maybe in Steam’s 2016 Xmas sale 🙂
