Tornado Strikes Manitoba and Lasts a Suprisingly Long Time

Environment Canada is reporting that a tornado struck southwestern Manitoba on Monday night. The news of the tornado wasn’t the shocking part; reports indicate that the tornado touched ground for 2.5 to 3 hours!

At 8:30 pm CT on Monday night, a very large tornado developed near Pierson. The tornado was tracked up to 80km north of where it developed. At 11 pm CT, the tornado was still active in the area of Virden. These was surpising and incredible information for Enviroment Canada and weather/storm-tracker enthiusiasts

There was resulting damage to a farm, but aside from that report, Environment Canada has no other records of impact from the tornado.

The tornado was actively tracked on social media, with many tweeting images and videos of the spectacle.
