Saturday Night Live is really stepping up its game. The upcoming SNL lineup is amazing (no offense Tracy Morgan and Miley Cyrus).
The network is bringing in the hilarious Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to host the show. And other upcoming episodes will feature Thor’s Chris Hemsworth, Drive’s Ryan Gosling and the talented Bruce Springsteen.
The longtime friends, co-hosts and former SNL cast members are set to host the day after their new film Sisters hits theaters. The film, in which they star, comes out on Dec. 18, according to E! News. Of course, the show is a perfect time to cross promote.
The dynamic duo made history on NBC’s live sketch show in 2004 when they became the first females to host Weekend Update. They hosted for two years before Fey left to star in 30 Rock.
They reappeared together on SNL in 2008 when Poehler played Hillary Clinton and Fey portrayed former Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. They also returned to take the Weekend Update desk together again for the 40th anniversary of SNL.
SNL will air three episodes in a row in December, and Ryan Gosling will finally host on Dec. 5. Chris Hemsworth will follow on Dec. 12; he will be hosting for the second time.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be musical guests no Fey and Poehler’s episode, while Leon Bridge will appear on Gosling’s episode and Chance the Rapper will be on Hemsworth’s.
The December 19 episode will not be the first time more than one person will host the show. Steve Martin, Martin Short and Chevy Chase hosted an episode together in the 80s that was particularly memorable and a few other duos have hosted over the years. However, this one is the most exciting duos to host SNL if you ask me!
