Some super fans get to have a picture with their biggest hero. Some get an autograph. Nick Mundy, a co-host of the YouTube channel Screen Junkies, was actually married by his biggest hero, Dwayne The Rock Johnson.
They have shared a special bond since a press junket for 2013’s “Pain & Gain.” Mundy was given the opportunity by his Screen Junkies pals to go down to the film’s press junket and interview The Rock, which seems to have ended up with him sharing a story of trying to pay for the Rock’s bill at a Hooters when he was a teenager.
Mundy thought he was going to interview The Rock and think of a bit at the junket for The Rock’s latest film, “San Andreas,” which will be released on May 29.
He was instead married to his fiancé Dilara Karabas by The Rock himself, who became an officially ordained minister by the state of California for the event. It was just going to be a prank, but the Rock decided to go all in. Mundy asked the Rock to be his best man once in an interview, but got something so much better.
Mundy came in with hat hair and American flag pants to the wedding, which was very funny in itself.
Many other celebrities have also ordained wedding ceremonies. Conan O’Brien ordained the wedding of his costume designer Scott Cronick and his partner David Gorshein on the his talk show’s first anniversary in 2011.
Ian McKellen also ordained the ceremony for X-Men co-star Patrick Stewart’s marriage to Sunny Ozell. Emma Stone also wed her publicist Holly Shakoor and “Zombieland” director Ruben Fleischer. And Jonah Hill also officiated his good friend Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo’s wedding. For me, Dwayne the Rock Johnson ordaining Mundy’s wedding is one of the coolest of those all. Congrats, Nick!
