People with autism have been thought to lack creativity due to certain traits of the disorder. Scientists have believed this for a long time. Now there is a new study published through the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders that suggests differently.
The study involved 312 people who underwent a series of tests based on creativity. The answers were rated on “quantity, elaborateness and unusualness.”
Those with autistic traits provided the most creative and novel ideas. It seems as though that the unique way in which people with autism and autistic traits think helps in coming up with more original and creative ideas.
