Steven Soderbergh Developing Interactive Drama for HBO

Academy Award winning director Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Erin Brockovich) is teaming up with HBO to deliver a mysterious new drama titled Mosaic, which will apparently allow viewers to use an app that will affect the direction of the plot.

Soderbergh, who is also a driving force behind Cinemax’s period medical drama The Knick and is set to help shepherd Starz’s upcoming anthology series The Girlfriend Experience which is based on his 2009 film of the same name, offered an explanation as to why HBO is interested in the series. The director said “I believe the good people at HBO are genuinely enthusiastic about Mosaic for two reasons: First, it represents a fresh way of experiencing a story and sharing that experience with others; second, it will require a new Emmy category, and we will be the only eligible nominee.”
