Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak-Biermann experienced a brief yet terrifying health complication on Wednesday that left her temporarily incapable of speaking. Just as she arrived back home following her appearance on Dancing With the Stars in Los Angeles, the TV personality was suddenly taken by a ‘mini-stroke’, according to her instagram account.
“The left side of my body went completely numb and my speech was gone.” She says in a post featuring her in a hospital bed with a gown and monitoring devices on. The 37 year old reality star confirmed that she is feeling better though, saying “I have 100%of my feeling back THANK GOD”.
She then thanked her husband, NFL player Kroy Biermann, and some other friends and family members for their quick reactions to the unexpected event, ending the post with ‘#CrazyAgeDoesntMatter.
Zolciak-Biermann has had her initial release date from the hospital pushed back from Thursday, as she is set to now have one more procedure today.
“Going in for one more procedure, things are looking up! Don’t let the oxygen scare you it’s just protocol.” the star wrote in another instagram post, adding “I wanted [to] THANK all of you for the love!” she added. “I feel so overwhelmed with all the texts, comments, etc. I’m so grateful to have all of you! #TheyDontCallMeToughieForNothing.”
It looks like she’s on the road to a quick and full recovery. Tony Dovolani, her Dancing With the Stars partner, gave his thoughts on the situation to PEOPLE.
“After spending only a few weeks with Kim, it is evident of how much of a fighter she is. Her humour and positivity are still shining through, and it’s amazing to see the love and support of her family. We are hoping for a speedy recovery.”
A mini-stroke, otherwise known as a transient ischemic attack, is caused by a blood clot that blocks an artery temporarily, says the American Stroke Association.
Dancing With the Stars will air Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC according to schedule, however it’s unclear whether Kim Zolciak-Biermann will return yet.
