Ramez Galal is an Egyptian television personality made famous by the TV show Ramez in Control. The show centers around elaborate pranks he plays on unsuspecting people – similar to the MTV show Punked, hosted by Ashton Kutcher.
However, Ramez took this one prank way too far and the whole thing was caught on tape. The clip, recorded via hidden cameras, is being taken down from websites almost as fast as they’re being put up – and for a good reason. The footage is disturbing and troubling to watch.
Enough teasing, you are probably wondering what the video is!
It starts with Paris Hilton boarding a small jet. She’s getting on to the plane for what she thinks is a 15 minute plane tour of Dubai. Sitting next to her is the host of the show, Ramez Galal. She’s also surrounded by other passengers (actors who were planted there to make the hoax more convincing).
A couple minutes into the flight they start feeling really strong turbulence, the plane’s engines start to fail and alarms start going off within the cabin. As the plane starts losing altitude, quickly, all the passengers begin freaking out and convincing Paris that the plane is going down…with her in it.
She starts crying, sobbing and yelling through tears, “What’s happening (…) Is this normal??” Paris, 34, was obviously terrified and yet the prank continued. The back of the jet opened up and passengers were told to suit up in a parachute vest and jump. She cried out “I don’t want to jump (…) I’m not jumping”. They then convince her to brace herself because they are going to have to crash land in the water. What she doesn’t know is that there is a runway right beside the water that they are about to safely land on.
The plan lands and she gets off the plane, obviously shaken. That’s when Galal tells her that he is a “bad guy” and that it was all just a prank.
She opens up that she thought she was “going to die”. She said:
“That’s been my biggest fear my whole life, dying in a plane”
The prank obviously went too far. Sure, it was funny for the first 3-5 seconds. But it went on for too long. To see someone genuinely fearing for their life isn’t funny, it isn’t entertaining…it’s just mean.
Since the clip was released, Paris posted on Twitter. Her tweet read:
“Scariest moment of my life. I really believed the plane was going to crash & we were all going to die.”
Despite the show facing cancellation earlier this year, Ramez in Control will be broadcast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
What do you guys think? Is this prank comical…or cruel?
