Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced Monday through Facebook, that the wedding between her daughter, Bristol Palin, and Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer has been called off.
“Bristol and Dakota couldn’t be more thankful for the love and support of family and friends over the past months while preparing for their wedding” the former GOP vice presidential nominee wrote. “They have informed love ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held”
The true hockey mom’s post, included a note from her daughter dismissing allegations that Meyer had been secretly married and not divorced. (after all, it’s already hard enough for a soldier to maintain a marriage while in rotation, but two?) The post did not provide more detail on why the wedding was called off.
An image of a poster reading “Trust in God’s timing. It’s better to wait a while and have things fall into place than to rush and have things fall apart.” on her Facebook page.
Meyer, 26, was part of a pre-dawn patrol in the Afghan village of Ganjgal when two Marine platoons were ambushed by more than 50 enemy infantry, firing rocket propelled grenades, mortars and machine guns. Meyers made five trips into the ambush zone to rescue wounded afghan forces and recover the bodies of fallen Marines. President Obama presented him with the military’s highest honour in 2011.
Much less heroically, Palin, 24, had a third place finish on dancing with the stars and starred in her own Lifetime reality show, Bristol Palin: life’s a trip.
As sad as the news is to hear, one has to wonder; was it Sarah Palin’s homemade Alaskan gumbo that brought Meyer, a man among men to his knees?
This is a developing story, more information will be provided upon release.
