Oscar Documentary Shortlist Revealed

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed the shortlist for the Best Documentary Feature Oscar award for the upcoming 88th Academy Awards, hosted by Chris Rock and set to air on ABC on Sunday, February 28th, 2016.

The list, culled from 124 submitted for consideration, features such titles as the Amy Winehouse documentary Amy, He Named Me Malala, the story of an 18-year-old Pakistani woman Malala Yousafzai who was shot by the Taliban but survived to become an international human rights activist and Nobel Prize laureate and the acclaimed Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, which has received considerable push back from the Church of Scientology and won three Primetime Emmy Awards earlier this year (Outstanding Documentary or Non Fiction Special, Outstanding Writing for Non Fiction Programming and Outstanding Directing for Non Fiction Programming).

The final five nominees will be announced on Thursday, January 14, 2016 alongside those of other categories. The shortlist is as follows:
