One Direction’s Niall Horan: “We are not splitting up”

Sorry 1D fans. Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that Zayn Malik quit the band. Then, Louis Tomlinson became a father, thus breaking the hearts of “Larry” lovers everywhere. Oh, and there was that whole no-Zayn transition. Then Zayn and Perrie Edwards broke up.

If you love these guys, it’s been an interesting year.

And if all of this year’s drama wasn’t enough for you, you’re in luck. It looks like the band is taking an extended hiatus in March 2016 to pursue their own projects.

“They are taking a hiatus so they can work on individual projects for a while but they are not splitting up,” a source told E! News. “They will remain together and plan to work together in the future,” the source added.

Though sources like this one ensured the group would not be splitting, rumors flew about their impending doom. Fortunately, Niall took to Twitter to clear everything up.

“Ok so lots of rumours going round. We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year,” he tweeted Monday. “Don’t worry though, we still have lots we want to achieve!” Niall added.

“Can’t wait for you to hear all the new music we have for you and to perform some new songs as the tour continues! Love you all xx,” Niall said.

I know what you’re thinking. NSYNC said something similar to this just before Justin Timberlake went solo and the band broke up. But hey, all signs point to new music and a lot of fan pleasing.

There have not been any reports of bad blood in the group, and they seem to genuinely be searching for new opportunities.

The announcement came just after the boy band released their new music video “Drag Me Down.” This is the first music video the band has released since Zayn left the band.
