August of last year, the world suffered a great loss. Robin Williams death.
Luckily for us his work schedule was so busy prior to passing, it has allowed us to enjoy new work from him since he’s been gone. What work are we referring to? FIVE films released posthumously. Three of which we’ve already seen (The Angriest Man In Brooklyn, Merry Friggin’ Christmas, and Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb) and then two more set to be released (Absolutely Anything and Boulevard).
Absolutely Anything is dated to be released May 5, 2016. In this film we’ll get to see – or rather, hear – Williams in his element. In all his glory he will be voicing Simon Pegg’s dog, Dennis. It’s a Terry Jones comedy that will star Robin alongside all the living members of comedy group, Monty Python.
Boulevard premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year but will open in theatres July 10! The trailer for the film was just released and from the looks of it, this will be one of Williams most dramatic, emotional roles yet. He will play Nolan Mack, a sixty year old closeted gay man who experiences a late mid-life crisis. One night he gives a ride to a young street hustler, played by up and coming actor Roberto Aguire, and his life changes forever. Also starring in the film is Better Call Saul actor, Bob Odenkirk.
Film critic, Peter Debruge, saw the drama at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. His review in Variety read:
“This is one of the kindest characters Williams has ever played, which makes his self-imposed turmoil – the consequence of not wanting to hurt anyone, least of all his wife – all the more tragic.”
It will be a bittersweet gift to see Robin on screen again, but a gift that won’t be taken for granted.
