With the holidays coming up, Hershey wants to give us an even BIGGER kiss!
The company announced a new variety of their iconic chocolate Kiss, Kisses Deluxe, Tuesday. The new treat will be twice the size of the original treat and will have a delicious, whole roasted hazelnut in its center.
Hershey’s Facebook page described it as “a delicious mix of whole roasted hazelnut, smooth, creamy layers, and delicate crisps.”
The company is also changing their packaging in the hopes that people will see the new product as a great choice for gift giving! Instead of the traditional silver foil, we can expect a more Ferrero Roche style package. Right in line with the holiday spirit, the Kisses Deluxe will be in gorgeous gold foil. Hershey’s has labelled these their “most inspired chocolate Kisses yet”.
Adam Borden is a senior associate manager for Hershey Kisses. In an interview with USA Today, he told them about the weighted decision to go with gold foil. He said: “It took 55 years just to change the color of the foil. Then it took another 38 years to put something inside the milk chocolate. We’re getting better, but it does take us a little while to tinker with something that is iconic as a brand Milton Hershey founded himself.”
The product may be brand new to USA, but it has already been tested out in China. It was introduced in 2013 as Hershey was attempting to create a creamier, less sweet chocolate that would appeal to Chinese customers taste. Last year alone, Chinese consumers purchased $100 million of Hershey’s Kisses. That success has encouraged Hershey’s to expand to USA.
The only difference will be the crisps. Chinese Kisses Deluxe have wheat crisps, but American Kisses Deluxe will have gluten free rice crisps.

“Our focus around this was not to come up with something that wasn’t available to a broad range of gift givers. We really decided we wanted to focus on different price points and different sizes that encompass the different ranges people were looking for. But not make it so luxurious that it was really out of reach for most consumers.”
They say go big or go home, and it looks like Hershey is choosing to go big! The new Kisses are expected to hit American shelves by Nov. 5.
