Morgan Freeman opens up to the Daily Beast about his life-long marijuana usage, and vast weed smoking must be the secret to how he got his groovy voice.
The 77-year-old star cites that his first wife got him into the stuff, and that he will ingest the substance however it comes – snorting, drinking, smoking or eating. He thinks marijuana definitely has more benefits medically than alcohol does. He was in a car accident seven years ago in Mississippi when his car skidded off the highway and flipped over several times. To ease the pain of fibromyalgia in his left arm, he doesn’t use painkillers.
He uses marijuana.
“They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life,” said Freeman in the interview to Daily Beast. “That right there, to me, says, ‘Legalize it across the board!'”
The legalization of marijuana is supported by such people as Snoop Dogg (unsurprisingly), Danny DeVito, Jennifer Aniston and Hugh Hefner. Marijuana is legal in the U.S. states of Alaska, Colorado and Washington. Medical use of it is legal in such states as Arizona, California, Hawaii and Michigan. Medicinal marijuana can help cancer, anxiety, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma and arthritis, to name a few of its uses.
For a film with a set release date, the prolific Freeman will be next seen in Seth MacFarlane’s “Ted 2” on June 26, 2015.
