There may officially be ‘Bad Blood’ between Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift.
The bold 22 year old sounded off about Taylor Swift’s new music video for her hit Bad Blood in a Marie Claire interview. The September issue, to be released August 18th, will feature Cyrus on the cover and inside you can read her thoughts on role models and double standards in the music industry.
The video in question features Taylor Swift plotting and executing an elaborate scheme of revenge with a slew of celebrity pals. It’s allegedly a creative retort to her ongoing feud with pop singer Katy Perry.
Miley’s response to the video was simple:
“I don’t get the violence revenge thing. That’s supposed to be a good example? And I’m a bad role model because I’m running around with my t—–s out? (…) I’m not sure how t—–s are worse than guns.”
While I’m not sure either are appropriate for role models, she definitely has a point! But it wasn’t just Taylor that Miley had criticism for. She also commented on the double standard there is for male and female artists in the music industry.
“There is so much sexism, ageism, you name it (…) Kendrick Lamar sings about LSD and he’s cool. I do it and I’m a druggie wh-re.”
She will certainly have to put her hostility aside while hosting this year’s 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. Bad Blood has several nominations, one of which is for Video of the Year. So the ladies will surely have some face to face encounters.
Hopefully both can carry themselves with class. However, even if she doesn’t she’s not too concerned about her reputation. She told interviewers:
“I don’t really stress too much about being out there. There’s nothing left to catch me doing. (…) You want to hack my email so you can find my nude pictures? I’ll just f—-ing put them up.”
Only time will tell if Miley’s comments will become the inspiration for Swifts next music video but hopefully for now both girls can move on and focus on more positive things.
