Recently, hackers or data miners were able to discover evidence of missing content from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
“Users in the Facepunch forum discovered not only a texture of The Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3, but they discovered an entire missing chapter.
MGSV: TPP contains two chapters, the latter of which is a wreck of unfinished plot points and re-used content. Facepunch found a title card that references a third chapter, tentatively titled “Peace”.” – Jez Corden, windowscentral.com
It is common for game developers to cut content, but players have expressed that the games story is incomplete. Perhaps the added content would have made the story more whole.
Months ago, Director Hideo Kojima and videogame company Konami had a falling out. Weeks ago, Kojima productions was disbanded and Kojima is due to leave the company after completing work on the game. Unfortunately, development of the next Silent Hill video game, called Silent Hills, directed by Kojima and film director Guillermo del Toro, was cancelled by Konami, as well. With Metal Gear Sold V, it appears the game might have been cut short due to Kojimas‘ relationship with Konami.
A rough demonstration, of the missing content was shown on the Metal Gear Sold V documentary, which came included with the Collectors edition of the video game. A video posted by youtube user Inzaa shows part of a final battle with one of the main characters on a new level. Concept art and footage for this mission called “Kingdom of the flies” can be seen here:
MGSV:The phantom pain has a save data transfer that was supposed to allow players to return to one of the levels from last years prologue game, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeros.
Director Hideo Kojima stated:
“People who own GZ will be able to play a different mission(s) at Camp Omega in TPP. That’s the current plan. There’s something of a big feature involved. It’s never been done in the games industry before.” –www.metalgearinformer.com, November 4, 2014
Apparently, Camp Omega was also cut from MGSV:TPP . Users from a www.gamefaqs.com forum topic titled: So returning to camp omega was a lie?, have comfirmed the level was not included. Additionally, certain enemy A.I features, promised by the games developers, were not present.
Forum contributor AnnihilatorSol on www.gamefaqs.com posted
“Yeah it’s a lie, so is the “enemy adapts to your play style”
They only adapt to your techniques for wearing gas mask, but the riot gear pretty much stops everything anyway. The will use flares regardless if you played the whole game on day time, they will wear helmet once you reach mission 9 I believe regardless if you are going CQC only. They wear body armor a lot in later stages, and then riot gear starts appearing around mission 30 even if you are going non lethal.”
It is disappointing to see missing content from a game and to know that it could have been better. There is still hope in the form of Down-loadable content. Game developers have the habit of releasing DLC months after a games release. Maybe the missing levels will eventually become available to play.”
