Upcoming Wii U exclusive Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash will release on November 20 in North America, Nintendo has announced. The tennis game was announced at E3 earlier this year and along with Yoshi’s Woolly World (which is already out in Europe), Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water and Xenoblade Chronicles X it makes up the Wii U’s admittedly small holiday line up. Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash assumes the launch date of Star Fox Zero which was delayed into 2016 several weeks ago.
On the Nintendo website the storied developer described the game’s features, which appear to focus on local multiplayer instead of single player or more common online multiplayer. “Compete with friends in the multiplayer Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash game on the Wii U system,” the site reads. “Along with the fun and dynamic gameplay known to the franchise, surprise your opponents with a new move to the series, the Jumpshot, which sends the ball flying down the court. Change the sport up with new Mega Battles, using the Mega Mushroom to gain an advantage over the competition. Claim your spot in Mario Tennis lore in singles (1v1) or doubles (2v2) as you play with and against family, friends or the CPU using returning and new characters to the series.”
The game will cost less than most; it’s priced at US $50 at launch.
