Man Held With No Bail For Death of Baby in Chicago

Antoine Watkins, a 21-year-old Chicago man is in custody without bail for the death of a baby. He faces murder charges for the murder of 13-month-old Dillan Harris. The baby was hit by a car escaping from a gang-related shooting where a local rapper was killed.

Antoine Watkins was eluding police as he fled the scene of a murder in Chicago in which local rapper Capo was killed on Saturday.

During the getaway, Watkins was chased by police when he lost control of his car. He crashed into a post, hitting the infant. Watkins was reportedly running numerous red lights at speeds of more than 70 miles per hour through neighbourhood streets.

Though Watkins faces murder charges for the death of the baby and is held without bail, he is not charged in the murder of Capo.

On Monday, Watkins went before a judge for his bond hearing. During the appearance, bystanders reported hearing the destraught mother yelling, “you killed my baby!”

The boy’s mother and her two daughters were waiting at a bus stop to go to the beach when Watkins’ car lost control. Reportedly, the mother pushed her daughters out of the way but could not save the baby.
