Madonna Goes on Tour: Surprising Opening Act

Madge is coming back (although, did she really ever disappear?)! Madonna is launching a tour that will begin August 29 in Miama and continue until December. The tour is set to promote her recent album, Rebel Heart.

With an excentric and captivating artist like Madonna, fans are wondering, who will be opening up her show? Well, it’s an unusual yet fabulous pairing.

Comedienne Amy Schumer, known for her raunchy, upfront, and colourful humour, will be the opening act. It’s not what you’d expect for a music tour. Typically, concerts are opened by other bands and musical performers. But neither Madonna nor Schumer are typical characters.

Schumer announced the partnership over Twitter, saying that she “auditioned for @Madonna and got the part”. The post included a link to her audition video, a comical and eccentric performance of her performing to “Like a Prayer” at age 10. It’s like she knew at age 10 this was her calling.

Schumer recently rose to fame as a strong female comedienne, through her role in her own show title “Inside Amy Schumer” on Comedy Central. The show has been on air since 2013. Schumer also placed fourth in NBC’s fifth season of “Last Comic Standing”, as well as placing second on Comedy Central’s “Reality Bites”.

Though an untraditional pairing for a concert tour, the duo is expected to break barriers and stun fans.
