Last week Devorise Dixon went to a Los Angeles KFC and ordered a three-piece chicken tender meal. He claims that one of the pieces in his order was a breaded, deep fried…RAT!
Devorise, not sure what action to take, recorded a video of the “rat” and then put it into his freezer until he was able to return to the KFC.
Saturday night the Randy Economy Radio Show interviewed the unhappy KFC customer. Dixon said “It was very nasty. I spit it out. I looked down at my hand and I realized that it was in the shape of a rat with a tail and everything in it.” He told the radio station that when he returned to the original restaurant where the “rat” was served, the manager was horrified and apologetic. Dixon said the “manager actually freaked out, confirmed that it was a rat. She apologized for it. They actually just offered me a free meal”.
Dixon apparently declined the food (understandably, if he believed his previous meal to be fried rodent) and then hired a lawyer to represent him.
KFC made a statement on Facebook to respond to the wave of customer inquiries:
“KFC takes customer claims very seriously, and we are continuing to investigate this matter. Our chicken tenders often vary in size and shape, and we currently have no evidence to support this claim. We are aggressively trying to reach Mr. Dixon, and we request that he return to the restaurant with the product for testing, or call us at 1-800-Call-KFC.”
Rodrigo Coronel is a KFC spokesman and he said that there have been many unsuccessful attempts to reach Dixon and his attorney. They have offered to help submit the sample to a lab for evaluation – to confirm that the food was, in fact, a rat…but no sample has been provided. Rodrigo also brought attention to a second post that Dixon made. He uploaded a photo of the “rat” to Instagram which was a different angle than previously released images. The image, Coronel says, “clearly shows it’s a piece of hand-breaded white meat chicken”.
