During an interview with The New York Times regarding her last time playing Katniss in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, Jennifer Lawrence casually revealed that she was in the process of writing a comedic screenplay with her new good friend Amy Schumer. The two plan to meet in person to continue writing the movie, which they will costar in, over the next few days alongside Schumer’s little sister, Kim, who helped write her breakout film ‘Trainwreck’.
“We play sisters,” Lawrence told the Times. “We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.”
The two only met a couple of months ago, but their friendship is strong regardless, according to Lawrence.
“I emailed her after I saw Trainwreck and said, ‘I don’t know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I’m in love with you,’ “detailed the movie star. “We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting. We really hit it off, to say the least.”
After mentioning the project, Lawrence suddenly realized that she unintentionally dropped the first news of their collaboration. She quickly pulled out her phone and texted Schumer, whose swift response reportedly sent Lawrence into laughter.
“I wrote, ‘I just spilled the beans to The New York Times. Is that O.K.?’ And Amy wrote back, ‘That you’re gay? Totally! It’s exciting!’ ”
The too seem to be a perfect fit for each other, so it’s hard not to be intrigued in a project that sounds like it has so much heart behind it.
“Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life,” said Lawrence. “We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up.”
