Jamie Foxx (48) may be your on screen hero, but Monday night he proved to be a hero off-screen as well.
California Highway Patrol and E! News said that Monday night just outside of Jamie’s home in California, Brett Kyle (32) was driving too fast and went right into a drainage ditch. At about 8:30pm the car hit a drainage pipe and concrete which sent it rolling. When the car finally stopped moving it had landed on the passenger side and the vehicle was on fire.
Brett was stuck inside the car and was at the mercy of onlookers. Luckily for him, Foxx and one other bystander were nearby when the accident occurred.
According to witnesses, Foxx grabbed something from his own car that the pair used to break the window, cut the seat belt and drag Kyle out of danger.
Once fire and medical professionals arrived they took him to Los Robles Hospital Medical Center. His brother, Joe Kyle, confirmed that Brett had head, chest and neck injuries as well as a broken collarbone which punctured a lung. He said:
“(Brett) would be in a much worse situation if Jamie Foxx didn’t come along.”
Brett was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and luckily no other vehicles were involved in the collision.
The official police report leaves out the names of those who helped but an ABC News representative said:
“Jamie didn’t hesitate. He jumped out and ran to the car. Jamie told CHP that he heard the accident and also a person screaming from the overturned vehicle.”
For the time being, Foxx is remaining quiet about the incident. His humble heroism makes him even more admirable.
