The Game Awards Winners Announced

Video game personality Geoff Keighley’s end of year awards ceremony for everything that video games has to offer just finished airing and the results are in.

CD Projekt RED’s epic open world role playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt took home three awards from its six nominations, nabbing the most awards.

An underdog also took the show by storm in a couple of categories: Rocket League was quite successful, following on from its surprise popularity when it released earlier this year. Life is Strange won the second Games For Change Award, aimed at acknowledging games that promoted human rights and equality.

The show also displayed a continued focus on the video gaming community as a whole, handing out awards for e-sports players and teams.

Former IGN editor Greg Miller was also awarded the title of Trending Gamer over such stiff competition as TotalBiscuit and internet sensation PewDiePie (the latter of whom runs the most subscribed Youtube channel ever and averages 300 million views a month). Miller departed IGN earlier this year with colleagues Colin Moriarty, Tim Gettys and Nick Scarpino to start Kinda Funny Games, a multimedia entertainment company primarily focusing on YouTube, Twitch streams and podcasts.
