The El Rey Network has issued a season three renewal of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, its ongoing adaptation of Robert Rodriguez’s horror/thriller film series of the same name. The series, developed by Rodriguez (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D), follows a pair of career criminals who stumble upon a vampire lair while fleeing from the police after robbing a bank and taking a family hostage.
“I’m so friggin’ excited that we are moving forward with another season of From Dusk Till Dawn: the Series,” said Rodriguez of the renewal. “This show has a passionate following, and I just love making it and directing episodes. We have a killer cast and the characters have gotten even more layered and magnetic and I can’t wait to take this story even further.”
“Renewing the show for a third season seemed only natural given the tremendous team involved, led of course by Robert Rodriguez, Carlos Coto, our stellar cast, and our fascinating Dusk universe that is like a never-ending well for unique storytelling,” said Miramax’s Executive Vice President of Film and Television Zanne Devine.
While the characters encountered the vampires “inhabiting the infamous Twister nightclub in the first season, season two sees the Gecko brothers venturing down separate paths. Seth Gecko is hiding out with Kate Fuller in a slummy motel, while Richie Gecko thinks he has found his new partner in crime in Santánico Pandemonium, the seductive culebra queen from the Twister. Crime lord Carlos Madrigal and Kate’s brother Scott Fuller emerge from deep within the Twister’s hidden Labyrinth as changed men. And all are headed for an explosive showdown with the dark and sinister Lord Malvado and his lethal henchman The Regulator,” according to a press release announcing the renewal.
The series is actually the first piece of original programming for the El Ray Network, which only launched a few years ago. From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series stars D. J. Cutrona (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Venom), Zane Holtz (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Make It or Break It), Eiza Gonzalez (Jem and the Holograms, Amores verdaderos), Jesse Garcia (Sons of Anarchy, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Madison Davenport (Over the Hedge, Noah), Brandon Soo Hoo (Tropic Thunder, Ender’s Game), Wilmer Valderrama (That ’70s Show, Awake), Jake Busey (Texas Rising, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3: Viva la Fiesta!), Esai Morales (Caprica, NYPD Blue) and Danny Trejo (Predators, Breaking Bad) with recurring appearances by Jeff Fahey (Lost, The Marshall), Demi Lovato (Barney & Friends, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam) and Academy Award nominee Gary Busey (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Buddy Holly).
