Tons of eager gamers met with disappointment last night and today when they tried to experience The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. The highly anticipated MMO iteration of the Elder scrolls series is unfortunately experiencing ‘an unexpected internal error’ according to IGN and thousands of fans across the internet.
Zenimax Online, the studio behind the game has acknowledged the error and have been working to fix the issues all day. While some have managed to finally get online, most are still constantly being greeted with this frustrating screen:
An update posted on the game’s online forums encourages players to remain patient, stating “Hey everyone. If you have been experiencing login errors, we ask that you please try to log into the console megaservers again. While we are continuing to work on resolving the issue, we have found that the issue has been fixed for some players at this point. We will continue to work on this until it’s resolved for all players, and we’ll provide an update when we can. Thank you again for your patience throughout the night.”
Veteran gamers, especially veterans to MMO and other large online titles should not be surprised at the difficulties, as most online-based games experience a large amount of server issues in the days following launch. Games like Diablo 3 were having on-and-off login troubles for over a week, as servers can overload if more players sign in at the same time than anticipated. That being said, it’s still quite disheartening. Here’s hoping Zenimax figures of a solution for everyone quickly. For those having problems, Zenimax has provided a workaround that has reportedly helped a few gamers.
Players attempting to log into the NA megaserver are instructed to switch to the EU megaserver and log in before switching back, and vice versa for players trying to log into the EU servers.
- Switch to the EU megaserver
- Log into the EU megaserver and accept the legal agreements as prompted
- Log out of the EU megaserver and switch back to the NA megaserver
- Log into the NA megaserver
