So what is the secret behind Ed Sheeran’s brilliant performances? Maybe it’s not what you would think…
Ed Sheeran said that he has realized he performs best when he’s hung over. “I don’t know why the best gigs I’ve ever played have been after real heavy nights,” the 24-year-old superstar said in a recent interview with Billboard. “I think it’s just because you walk onstage, you’re not complacent, you’re not onstage being like, ‘Oh, I’ve done this a million times.’ You should walk on stage being like, ‘You know, I’m 90 percent the human I should be so I’ll make sure I give 115 percent.”
So, of course, he made sure to have a big night out before his three sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium in London this summer. His performances at Wembley were filmed for a new concert film titled Jumpers for Goalposts.
The film premiered to the world at London’s Leicester Square on Thursday and will screen in selected theaters Friday through Sunday. “I just find whenever I’m on a British Airlines flight, I always watch someone’s concert film and it always like, I was never really a fan of Justin Bieber, and then I watched Never Say Never and then it made sense, so I was like, ‘Oh, oh. I get it now.” He said, laughingly, he wanted to make a film that he could “put on British Airlines flights and have Chinese businessmen like my music.”
Speaking of Bieber…it looks like Sheeran may be brewing a bit of a bromance with the pop singer. Sheeran recently wrote Bieber a song for his What Do You Mean countdown, MTV reports.

Additionally, Bieber supported Sheeran at his Jumpers for Goalposts premiere.
Sheeran has also agreed to write with Bieber on his upcoming album Purpose. “We wrote a song together and basically it’s one of my favorites on the album,” Bieber told Capital FM. “It’s just me and a guitar and basically that’s how I started. I started playing on the street with a guitar and so it’s cool to go back to my roots.”
Bieber calls Sheeran one of “the most talented writers in the game.”
Unfortunately, we probably won’t be seeing much of that wonderful talent in the near future. He announced in October that he will be taking a hiatus from music after his X tour wraps up.
“I haven’t had any time off since before I signed my record deal and I want some! I’ll do what I enjoy and it won’t feel like work. After Thinking Out Loud, I don’t think I should do another single from X. Three is a good number. I did six on the last album and it felt too much. You never go away and people get pissed off. Bruno Mars did three, Taylor Swift did three and Adele did three. I’ll probably end up with four singles so I have a song to go into the BRIT Awards with next year,” he said.
