On Saturday, Dec. 5, Maksim Chmerkovskiy got down on one knee and proposed to his fellow Dancing With The Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd in Miami. And she said yes!
Chmerkovskiy proposed on the dance floor at the Olympia Theater during a performance of Sway: A Dance Trilogy in front of a thrilled live audience and a line of dancers! With microphone in hand, he said to her, “I’m in love with you, and I will be in love with you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?”
Yes, that actually happened! I give him a perfect 10.
The 35-year-old Ukrainian dancing pro posted the outcome of his proposal on Instagram. The caption read: She said ‘yes’ with a smiley face.
Peta’s future brother-in-law and fellow Dancing With The Stars pro, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, shared the photo of the adorable moment on his Instagram as well. He said, “I love the two of you with all my heart. you have my brothers loyalty, heart. his one and only for the rest of his life. you’re family now and that makes you my sister, the second most important woman in my life. what’s mine is yours. Forever and always. Petachka your team got numbers now,” along with a couple of emojis and hashtags.
Peta added an Instagram photo, which included a look at the enormous ring, of the two saying that “Love always wins.”
Chmerkovskiy told US Magazine that he “knew a couple of years ago” that he wanted to marry the 29-year-old dancer. “But it’s a process. With this family, the hardest part of the process was to keep it a secret…this was definitely the best decision I ever made.”
And it seems like Murgatroyd is ecstatic. “I can’t tell you how happy I am,” she said. “I was completely shocked. I’m just overwhelmed with it all right now.”
The couple dated on and off beginning in 2012, according to Bustle, before they made the big commitment.
Yep, that tugs at the ole heart strings. The only thing that is more perfect than the proposal itself is the lovey-dovey sweet nothings the couple’s received via social media. May your love dance on forever!
