Cheers to another happy celebrity couple.
Dancing With the Stars judge Julianne Hough announced the news of her engagement to Washington Capitals center Brooks Laich via Instagram early Tuesday.
The photo features the professional ballroom dancer in the arms of her new fiancé smiling at what is probably a large diamond on her ring finger. “We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement! #fiance #love,” Hough wrote. Laich joined in and shared the same post on his Instagram feed.
The two are not shy with the PDA–they have been caught on more than one occasion in a heavy lip lock–so it comes as no surprise that the two love birds would display their engagement in this way.
The news comes just a few weeks after Hough had posted a photo of them on her feed with the caption “I wanna grow old with you.”
Hough, 27, and Laich, 32, started dating in December 2013, but they publicly revealed their relationship in February 2014, LA Times reports. The two met through Laich’s friend and Hough’s Curve co-star Teddy Sears, who introduced the couple during a wedding reception in 2013. This will be both Hough’s and Laich’s first marriage.
The Safe Haven actress and two-time Dancing With the Stars champion previously dated American Idol host and TV personality Ryan Seacrest for nearly three years. She was also reportedly linked to DWTS director Ari Sandel and her Season 8 partner and country singer Chuck Wicks.
Hough sat down and spoke to Redbook about her relationships in the August 2014 issue. “Every relationship, there was nothing wrong or bad, but there was nothing right,” Hough said.
“I had one foot out because I didn’t want to get hurt. And I didn’t say what was on my mind because I didn’t want to ruffle any feathers. I needed to be perfect. But now I’m not holding anything back, because I’d rather get my heart broken than never know what it is to be completely, madly in love. If I had been this open in my last relationship, who knows?” She added that Laich has been “open and honest” from the start.
