Hey country fans! As y’all know, the CMA Awards are airing live tonight, and I’m sure you’re all wondering who is going to walk away with what tonight.
Last year, Luke Bryan walked away with CMA’s coveted Entertainer of the Year award. Will he do it again? According to an interview PEOPLE at the BMI Country Awards in Nashville Tuesday, he wouldn’t mind it one bit!
“It would be as amazing as the first one,” Bryan said. “You never take a second for granted and you’re just blessed to be nominated. We’ll see what happens!”
Bryan just wrapped up his successful Farm Tour and he’s looking forward to resting for a while (at least after tonight). When asked what he’d be doing in his spare time, he said he’d be “spending some time just decompressing and starting to wrap my head around writing some” as well.
Before he does that, will he put another Entertainer of the Year award on his belt?
He is up against Garth Brooks, who is coming out of retirement; Miranda Lambert, who is constantly producing quality hits; Eric Church, who always does his own thing; and Kenny Chesney, who still sells out stadiums everywhere he goes. Luke definitely has some competition, but he is one of the biggest names in country. He’s got a great shot.
Along with the announcement of Entertainer of the Year, what else will you see at the 49th annual Country Music Association Awards tonight?
Of course, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will grace the stage once again to host the show. And we will see probably see Carrie wear more than 8 dresses in one evening (that’s exhausting) and Brad rock a pair of crisp boots. We will definitely see the two take some digs at the artists. Yes, this will include awkward jokes about Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert getting a divorce.
And an interesting (but gorgeous) collaboration is headed your way. Pop icon Justin Timberlake will be performing with newcomer Chris Stapleton! Timberlake shared the news on Twitter.

Though I didn’t expect to see Justin Timberlake’s name on the lineup, it’s not too surprising. Country awards shows love pairing country artists with pop artists, even if it’s a little weird (remember Ariana Grande and Little Big Town?). Along with Stapleton and Timberlake, you’ll see Keith Urban with John Mellencamp and Thomas Rhett with Fall Out Boy.
You may also see newcomers like Chris Stapleton steal some thunder. The new artist received three nominations for new artist, album of the year and male vocalist. The lovely Kacey Musgraves is also up for three awards and popular newcomers like Kelsey Ballerini, Sam Hunt and Maddie & Tae are nominated in multiple categories as well.
And you should expect to see the “top women of country” perform tonight. Sadly, that won’t be many as women as it should be, since they have really struggled breaking into country this year.
The show airs live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
