Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter, Chelsea has been found after the actress tweeted out a cry for help on Tuesday.
Chelsea, 17, was located just hours after her mother’s tweet. The post, which was retweeted over ten thousand times, read:
“Chelsea and her dog bear – last seen in nyack ny – may be in NYC – please call 845-358-0206 or 911”
Prior to Chelsea being located, Cindy Berger, O’Donnell’s spokeswoman, revealed:
“Chelsea, like millions of people, lives with mental illness. It has been a difficult road for Chelsea and her family and they just want her back safe.”
Rosie also made a statement saying that “Chelsea stopped taking her medicine and is in need of medical attention”. She had been last seen August 11th when she left home with her therapy dog. Concern would be warranted for any parent with a missing child. But when medication and mental illness are involved, the concern sky rockets.
James Coyle, a South Nyack Police Department detective, told The Washington Post that luckily, Chelsea was found safe and sound in New Jersey.
Berger spoke out thanks, on behalf of the O’Donnell family, to everyone who helped search. She said:
“Rosie wants to thank everyone for their help, especially the South Nyack, NY and Barneget Light, NJ police departments. Her daughter Chelsea O’Donnell has been located by the police and is safe in their custody.”
But Rosie also tweeted out her own thanks to everybody involved. She tweeted:
“Chelsea has been found and is safe in police custody – thank u all for the help and light #missingchildren”
