With Halloween right around the corner, Burger King is doing its best to pull customers over to the “dark side”!
They are introducing a spooky take on the traditional Whopper. The bun is cooked with an A.1. sauce that adds a bit of a kick to the bread and gives it the black color.
It isn’t the first time the company has sold colored Whoppers. During a summer promotion in Japan, “samurai burgers” were sold with an option of red or black buns.
Burger King is going crazy on Twitter trying to intrigue customers to try the novelty burger. They tweeted:
“Take a walk on the dark side with the A.1. #HalloweenWhopper”
They also have released short promotional videos with thunder and lightning. Another tweet reads:
“Bite the night. A.1. #HalloweenWhopper”
They even honed in on the hype around the eclipse from last night! With another short video, they showed the Halloween Whopper eclipsing the moon and tweeted:
“Something wicked is coming. The wicked good A.1. #HalloweenWhopper #SuperEclipse”
The sandwich looks like the Whopper’s evil twin but they are certainly not identical. The Halloween Whopper contains 710 calories, 43 grams of fat and 1.5 grams of trans fat while the traditional Whopper contains 650 calories, 37 grams of fat and 1.5 grams of trans fat.
Burger King promised customers that the new burger will be more than just a promotional tool. The company states:
“While the pitch-black bun gives the Halloween Whopper sandwich a look that may make some think ‘hmmmmm?’ the burger’s classic A.1. flavors will have tasters saying ‘mmmmm’.”
