On Sunday, David Bowie passed away after losing a battle with liver cancer that he’d been fighting for 18 months. A day before his death, his wife, the supermodel and cosmetics mogul, Iman Abdulmajid posted a tweet in which she said, “the struggle is real but so is God.” She posted another tweet in which she wrote, “Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment before it becomes a memory.”
Iman Abdulmajid, commonly known as Iman, and David Bowie were married on April 24, 1992 in a civil ceremony in Switzerland. And David Bowie has never made a secret of the fact that it was love at first sight for him.
“That she would be my wife, in my head, was a done deal,” he said in an interview he gave Hello magazine.
However, it was more of a slow burn for the model, but she said that he succeeded in changing her mind. They married and unlike other show-business marriages that peter out after a few years, Iman and Bowie’s 25-year relationship is due to the fact that their romantic relationship is kept out of the limelight.
“We are very private so we decided from early on that we will keep the press and editors and everybody out of our house,” she said.
And it is for that same privacy Iman and her family are asking for at this time of his passing.
