Blake Shelton admits that he and ex-wife, Miranda Lambert, are on good terms after their summer divorce.
The couple began seeing each other in 2006 but it wasn’t until May 2011 that the country pair tied the knot. They seemed like a match made in honky tonk heaven until they surprised fans in July of this year. In a joint announcement they told fans about their divorce. Their statement read:
“This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately.”
To avoid any tabloid hay-day, the country superstars filed for divorce in Oklahoma where the proceedings were over with quickly and without a hitch.
He told Bobby:
“Miranda and I didn’t have any kids, and we had our prenuptial agreement. Once we filed for divorce, it was over in a nine- or 10-day waiting period.”
Four years of marriage and a decade of companionship seemed to come to an abrupt end. But did it?
Blake Shelton told Bobby Bones on the Bobby Bones show that now, two months after their split, they are in a good place and are even friends!
“Our whole thing was, you know, we’re just going to be cool about this. It is what it is. We’re buddies.”
With a solid foundation of friendship and such a long partnership it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that the two are pushing through so cordially. You can’t just sever off ten years of your life.
So if fans can’t have the marriage…I’m sure they’ll settle for the pair remaining “buddies”!
