On Monday night, after Kaitlyn Bristowe left Nick Viall in the dust and viewers were forced to inhale the aftermath, Shawn Booth proposed and Kaitlyn accepted. After “the best two months” of their lives, they expect to live happily ever after. Previous statistics do not really weigh in their favor, but what about some cash?
Bristowe and Booth appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live just after ABC’s The Bachelorette finale aired and their romance went public. And the two placed an interesting bet.
They vowed that they would not be like Bachelor and Bachelorette couples in the past and they would be married, or at least together, a year from now. They are so sure, they put some money on it.
“Twice a year for like 13 years now, we’ve seen people get together. They come on the show and they seem to be very much in love … And then the next thing we know, we see them on the cover of a magazine with a tear down the center,” Jimmy Kimmel said. He claimed his heart just “couldn’t take it anymore.”
So he made the couple say some hilarious vows in which they promised to be together one year from now. Kimmel said that if they were not together, they had to pay him $1,000 or $2.77 for 30 years.
Before the bet was made, Bristowe and Kimmel discussed their interactions on the show.
Kimmel has been involved in the show since Chris Soles’s time on the Bachelor. He actually met Kaitlyn on Chris’s season (she came in third place) and seemed to like her.
I guess he liked her enough, or the show enough, to help her go wedding dress shopping on her finale. He also brought along his parking lot security/sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez, and some ridiculous jokes were spat. My personal favorite: “It looks like you were going to a hooker ballet,” Kimmel said.
The 30-year-old bride-to-be and her 29-year-old fiancee graced the cover of PEOPLE this week. It really seems like they are in love, and they have as much of a chance as anyone.
Bristowe said in an interview with PEOPLE that she didn’t think she could be “this happy.” Booth added that she makes him “feel different.” “It’s what I’ve been looking for,” Booth said.
I’ve heard it before, and I’ll remain a skeptic when it comes to falling in love on a reality show. But hey, hopefully they make it to July 27, 2016!
