The Rock’s Return to Wrestlemania 32

The Rock, also known as Dwayne Johnson or the People’s Champion, will be making an appearance at Wrestlemania in April 2016.  Wrestlemania 32 will take place in Dallas Texas.

The Rock was an extremely popular wrestler during the late 90’s and early 2000’s.  Even though he rarely makes an appearance in the WWE,  his popularity has never gone away.  His catchy sayings “Can you smell what the Rock is cookin” and “It doesn’t matter what you think” along with his facial expressions, like his eyebrow raise, were some of the things that made him a hit with wrestling fans.  His intimidating physique, professional wrestling skills and showmanship were also very memorable.

During and after his time in the WWE, The Rock became a movie star, and he continues to make movies. His movies include The Scorpion King, The Rundown and San Andreas.

Laura Lorenzetti from Fortune reported the following:

“The Rock has also shown up to the past two WrestleMania events in non-wrestling roles, taking the stage with the likes of Ronda Rousey and Hulk Hogan in different years. His last time in the WWE ring for such an evening was WrestleMania 29 in April 2013, when he defeated John Cena.

WrestleMania is WWE’s biggest event and one of the biggest pay-per-view specials of the year. The event costs about $60 on pay-per-view for those without a subscription to the WWE Network (which costs $9.99 a month) and is available in 175 countries worldwide…”

Elizabeth Wagmeister from Variety reported what the rock had to say on his Instagram account:

“The ‘San Andreas’ star made the announcement on Instagram to his near 38 million fans. He wrote: ‘IT’S OFFICIAL: People’s Champ is coming home to do 3 things with THE PEOPLE: Set an ALL-TIME attendance record, ELECTRIFY Dallas like never before & make all time #WRESTLEMANIA history. And we have FUN. Ok that’s four things but you know what the hell The Rock’s sayin’… THANK YOU #WWEUniverse! It’s always an honor coming home and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

Good to see one of the professional wrestling greats is still making appearances in the WWE.  We will have to wait and see if he will be wrestling at Wrestlemania 32; we hope so.
